Benoît grew up quite comfortably and had a loving family along with a supportive community. From a young age, it was evident that he had a love for insects, especially butterflies and beetles. As a boy, he liked to capture caterpillars in jars and raise them until they turned into the insect they were destined to be, and then release them. However, his singing talent was also immediately recognized. In school, he was very popular because of his performances at events.
He studied entomology, and when he graduated, he was fully set on attending college for it. However, he needed to save up for it, and in order to do that, he decided to pursue music as well. At around 24 years old, he found a local entomology club, and he was able to build a bug taxidermy collection alongside the other members.
However, the club didn't last long. Because when Benoît was 25, France was taken under the rule of Nazi Germany.
Benoît hated war, and he did not want to engage in it at all. However, he also knew that one of the members of the entomology club was Jewish and under direct threat. As time slowly went on, he noticed that more of his acquaintances that attempted to act against the Nazis and help those who Nazi soldiers targeted fell out of his contact, and his hatred of the Nazis grew over time.
In August of 1944, Benoît went on strike as Allied forces entered France, and when the US 2nd Armored Division reached Paris, Benoît was one of the first people to enthusiastically welcome them. As he celebrated after the Liberation of Paris however, he couldn't help but wonder what happened to the members of the entomology club he used to attend. But to this day, Benoît still hasn't seen any of them since.
Personality
Present day - France, 1953
Benoît is an underground crooner who currently performs for the Palais des Artistes bar. He greatly enjoys the concept of romance, and he is highly skilled with charisma and flirting. However, the concept of dating was actually not something he thought of... until he met Clémente. He wrote most of the songs he performs, but he also adores more modern music.
Benoît aspires to get a record deal and for one of his songs to be a hit, so he could finally be known worldwide for his voice. However, he tends to get thrown around between temporary gigs, whether on radio stations or occasionally performing at a festival. All his endeavors wound him virtually nowhere however, and he's kind of tired of this "underground" thing.
Besides singing, he is very good at entomology due to studying it in school, and he can identify a wide range of insects. He still wants to become a full-time entomologist in his heart, but he knows that he has to retire from music first.
